Sunday, July 27
Individual arrivals to Holiday Inn Painted Post, lunch on own. Depart aboard motorcoach at 1:30PM for Hammondsport and Keuka Lake. Our first stop is at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, a local history museum focusing his aviation achievements and inventions. From there, we will be stopping at Pleasant Valley Wine Company for a tour of the historic buildings (some dating as far back as 1860) and a wine and champagne tasting, followed by dinner aboard the Esperanza Rose. Our return to the Holiday Inn Painted Post is estimated around 9PM.
Monday, July 28
We will be checking out of the Holiday Inn Painted Post and departing on the motorcoach for breakfast and a tour at the downtown Radisson Hotel Corning before heading to the Rockwell Museum of Western Art for a guided tour (and shopping in the Trading Post). Then on to the world-famous Corning Museum of Glass for a tour of the sculpture, history, and innovations galleries, a chance to watch the live Hot Glass Show, and lunch hosted by the Corning Museum of Glass in the GlassMarket Café. After lunch, we will be making our own glass souvenirs at Hands on Glass Studio before departing for Elmira. Enjoy the narrated Twain Country Tour, which highlights historic sites in Elmira from the days of Samuel Clemens himself. Learn how the world-renowned author is connected to Elmira, NY and the Chemung Valley. A quick stop at the lovely Christmas House for shopping, and then a hosted reception and tour of the collection at the Arnot Art Museum. Dinner this evening is at The Hilltop Inn, with excellent food, entertainment, and a commanding view of the valley. This evening, our host hotel will be the Holiday Inn Elmira-Riverview.
Tuesday, July 29
Enjoy breakfast on your own, check out of the Holiday Inn Elmira Riverview, and board the motorcoach (with your luggage) for an 8:30AM departure. Our first stop will be the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center for a tour of their magnificent collection of restored warbirds and a tour of the restoration hangar. Following that, we proceed up to Harris Hill for more views of the Chemung River Valley and a tour of the National Soaring Museum. After a hearty lunch at the Chemung Valley History Museum in downtown Elmira, we will return you to your vehicles at the Holiday Inn Painted Post for departure home with wonderful memories, new friends, and plans for many, many return visits!
